DevOps Specialist

Sednove offers an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Developer to be an integral part of our successful, growing business. They will be responsible for helping us elevate our technology stack to the next level. 
They will assist in designing and developing proprietary CMS, APIs and internal/consumer-facing technologies. 

The successful candidate will work with a team of developers to ensure all code meets professional standards and business goals. They will be expected to provide leadership on design and implementation in a team environment as well as writing code during sprints.

Sednove, which means "new way" in Latin, is a technology company that was founded in 1997 by two computer scientists, Pierre Laplante and Chantal Bilodeau. The multinational group Platinum acquired Sednove in 2021 to increase its control over the development and quality of its software applications used around the world.  Platinum System is a global leader in chiropractic software.  

Sednove develops software web-based applications and websites for clients in various sectors such as financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, government, automotive, health, academia, and the fashion industry. We have three main products: Platinum 2.0 our Chiropractic EHR system, Glassbooking intended for the glass repair shops and KontactPay which is our credit card and ACH payment platform. 

The company invests in research, development, and innovation in order to continue to evolve its Extenso product, which is a web development environment that integrates a content management system. Thanks to this platform, which combines no-code / low-code / code and performance, the development of web solutions is very fast and dynamic.

What will your main responsibilities look like?

In this role, you will be led to:

• Support the company’s cloud-based infrastructure and provide timely, appropriate solutions to resolve issues;
• Work closely with other engineering professionals to specify, build, and maintain environments and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently;
• Build and deploy secure automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions;
• Support and work alongside a cross-functional engineering team with the latest technologies;
• Analyze current technologies utilized within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them;
• Assist other engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team;
• Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, mockups, and time necessary;

What elements of your professional background will be necessary and useful in this role?

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent certificate.
• 5+ years of experience administering Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Amazon Linux).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience working in AWS with services and resources such as VPC, EC2, RDS, EFS, S3, IAM, SSO, EKS, CloudFront, Elasticsearch, ElastiCache, Route53
• 3+ years of experience with software development pipeline tools: Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins.
• 3+ years of experience with configuration management: Ansible, Saltstack.
• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform, Ansible.
• 3+ years of experience with monitoring and observability: Zabbix, DataDog, Weave, Prometheus.
• Experience with virtualization and container management systems: Docker, Kubernetes;
• Experience with automation and software delivery/deployment.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams to facilitate the orderly execution of proposed project plans.

What are the assets that would make you stand out? 

• Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures;
• Ability to develop solutions, including automation, for identified problem spaces and communicate effectively with stakeholders;
• Experience working in cross-functional teams to facilitate the orderly execution of proposed project plans;
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Speaking French would be an asset.
